According to the 2016 Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) Strategic Benefits: Health Care survey, 66% of employers are very concerned about controlling healthcare costs, while 31% are somewhat concerned. These results are not surprising in any way, as healthcare costs have risen consistently year over year for the last 20+ years, taking up a larger and larger percentage of employer budgets. According to the same survey, 73% or respondents reported an increase in costs for 2016.
